Kottayam Club was started in the year 1975, as a result of the hard work and toil put in by a few dedicated people led by Late Mr.Varkey Santhisthan. It was the vision of these pioneers, recognizing that this part of town was the fastest growing residential area and the need for a family club was paramount to them, that the dream came up and was fulfilled.
The original structure incorporated just a shuttle court and a card room. Participation from all members of the family was and still is the unique feature of this club. Slowly the need for more facilities came up. The club developed in stages and now has attained the status of the Premier Club of our state. Presently the membership comprises of around 2000 of the cream of Kottayam society comprising doctors, engineers, chartered accountants, businessmen and leaders from all sections.
Kottayam Club is possibly the only club to have two annexes. Our Kumarakom Annex is situated on the banks of the picturesque Vembanad Lake. The Kuttikanam Annex “Valley View” is situated on a hillock at an altitude of 4000 ft. Our members thus have the unique opportunity to enjoy the best of nature which our state “God’s Own Country” stands for.
